Women’s Division

The Women’s Division was started in 2023.

Women are one of the fastest growing demographics in shooting sports and firearms ownership. Our mission is to educate, empower, and provide a safe space and supportive community for women interested in firearms, shooting sports, and other activities that are available at the Nanaimo & District Fish & Game Protective Association.  Our goal is to provide a less intimidating, safe and supportive environment for women of all skill levels to learn, participate and gain confidence in what has been a traditionally male-dominated activity.

For brand new shooters – e.g. those who do not yet have their Possession and Acquisition License (PAL or RPAL) or those without a firearm – it is recommended you access the indoor Air Rifle range on Wednesday evenings 6-8 pm for safe firearm handling and basic shooting skills with Carmen Barclay (carmenbarclay1@gmail.com; currently on summer hiatus until September.)  Carmen is also organizing the mixed mini rifle classes.

For those women with their PAL/RPAL and a firearm, we have a “Women’s Weekly Shooting Drop-In” on Thursdays from 3-5 pm. Follow the FB group for information and upcoming events.  If you would like to be added to our email list for information and upcoming events send a request to Kim Goldberg at goldberg@ncf.ca .  Kim is organizing the Ladies mini rifle classes and Ladies handgun classes.
